“Streamlining Technology for Seniors in Hampshire: Simplifying Accessibility”

Age Concern Hampshire is urging older individuals to start the year feeling confident and connected. Recent research has shown a significant rise in the number of older people receiving tablets, smartphones, and laptops as Christmas gifts, highlighting the need for support in utilizing these devices and navigating new technology safely and confidently.

The charity’s IT sessions offer personalized and approachable assistance to help individuals use their new devices, acquire essential digital skills, and stay in touch with their loved ones. As more and more aspects of daily life move online, from communicating with family and friends to accessing services, healthcare information, and shopping, older individuals may feel left behind. Age Concern Hampshire’s 1-to-1 IT sessions aim to empower participants to navigate the internet securely and make the most of their technology.

These sessions take place at various locations in Basingstoke and Locks Heath, covering practical skills such as setting up devices, using email, browsing the internet, and troubleshooting common technology issues. Appointments can be made and sessions are conducted in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Kim Stone, Wellbeing Coordinator for Age Concern Hampshire, stated, “Technology can be daunting, especially if you have never had the opportunity to learn it or if you received a new device for Christmas and are unsure of where to begin.” She added, “Our IT sessions are designed to help older individuals feel confident online, stay connected, and make the most of the upcoming year.”
