“Supporting Young People this Holiday Season: Legacy Youth Zone Introduces “Buy a Bauble” Digital Christmas Tree Campaign”

Legacy Youth Zone has officially launched its festive Digital Christmas Tree “Buy a Bauble” fundraising campaign, calling on the community to come together and support the youth of Croydon this holiday season.

The campaign, which aims to provide funding for youth programmes, hot meals, and safe spaces for local young people, invites individuals, families, and businesses to “buy a bauble” and decorate Legacy’s virtual Christmas tree. Each bauble represents a donation that will directly benefit more than 3,000 members aged 8-19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs) at the Legacy Youth Zone.

Sonya Russo, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Legacy Youth Zone, spoke about the campaign, stating, “This initiative is about uniting people in the spirit of giving. Every bauble symbolizes someone in our community choosing to invest in the future of our young people. Whether you are an individual or a local business, your contribution will make a real impact this Christmas.”

With the financial strain many young people and families are facing this winter, the campaign aims to ensure that no one misses out on a safe, warm, and positive place to go. Legacy Youth Zone relies solely on fundraising from the community, corporate partnerships, grants and trusts, and membership, making every donation crucial in providing essential services to young people in need.

To participate in the “Buy a Bauble” campaign, supporters can visit https://visufund.com/create-legacies-this-christmas, choose a bauble, and add a festive message. The digital tree will light up with the names and messages of donors across the borough. Bauble donations start at £50, which can provide Legacy Youth Zone members with 16 hot meals or cover 3 hours of youth work.

Legacy Youth Zone is calling on all members of the community, from residents to corporate partners, to join in, share the campaign online, and help fill the tree before Christmas Eve. As Russo stated, “The young people who walk through our doors every day inspire us. This Christmas, we want the community to show them just how valued they are.”
