PayPal Powers BigCommerce Payments for Better Commerce Experience

AUSTIN, Texas – Commerce (Nasdaq: CMRC), the parent company of popular e-commerce platform BigCommerce, announced today the launch of a new embedded payment processing solution called BigCommerce Payments. Powered by PayPal (Nasdaq: PYPL), this new service is set to launch in the United States in 2026, with plans for international expansion in the future.

The integration of BigCommerce and PayPal marks a new phase in their longstanding partnership, bringing together the strengths of both companies to offer a seamless and simplified commerce experience for merchants. Through this co-branded integration, merchants will have access to advanced payment capabilities, simplified account management, and buy now, pay later (BNPL) options through PayPal’s Pay Later service, all managed within the BigCommerce Control Panel.

Travis Hess, CEO of Commerce, expressed excitement for this new collaboration, stating, “BigCommerce Payments represents a major step forward in creating a seamless and simplified intelligent commerce experience for Commerce merchants. By embedding PayPal’s trusted payment solutions directly into our platform, we will give merchants more control, visibility and flexibility to grow their businesses with confidence.”

Michelle Gill, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Small Business & Financial Services at PayPal, also shared her enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “Together with Commerce, we’re not just addressing the needs of today’s merchants, we’re empowering them to seize the future with confidence and agility. By bringing together PayPal’s world-renowned reliability, security and global reach with Commerce’s merchant-focused platform, we’re helping merchants thrive in the next era of ecommerce.”

BigCommerce Payments will offer merchants a dedicated “Money” dashboard within the BigCommerce Control Panel, giving them direct access to manage and monitor their payments and balance activity. This includes real-time balance insights, top-ups and payouts, bank and card connections, and currency management. While co-branded and embedded into BigCommerce, the merchant’s payment relationship will still remain directly with PayPal.

In addition, BigCommerce will enable the migration of existing merchants currently using PayPal Complete Payments (PPCP). These merchants will receive personalized communications, offering them the option to seamlessly transition to BigCommerce Payments.
