On Monday, October 20, 2025, The Japan Association of New Economy (JANE) had the pleasure of hosting H.E. Mr. Erik Slottner, Minister for Public Administration of Sweden. JANE, a prominent organization advocating for digitalization and new technologies, welcomed Minister Slottner to discuss important policy proposals for “Japan Transformation.”
During the meeting, JANE presented a variety of proposals, including digitalization initiatives, regional revitalization plans, and leveraging new technologies such as AI. The organization also touched on topics such as work engagement reform and tax and regulatory reforms. Minister Slottner, in turn, shared insights into Sweden’s digital strategy, highlighting their efforts to enhance digital competence, transform welfare and public administration, and improve digital connectivity through the implementation of 5G technology.
In addition to these discussions, the meeting also delved into JANE’s advocacy activities towards the European Union (EU). Topics of discussion included Open RAN technologies, AI regulations, the EU’s DMA Act, and Japan’s new Mobile Software Competition Act. This visit provided a valuable opportunity for both parties to deepen their understanding of digital policies and explore potential collaborations in the future.
