Perpetuus Partners with Asiatic Rubber to Scale Graphene Masterbatch Production Across India

Last Updated on:

In a landmark move for the tyre industry, Perpetuus Advanced Materials has joined forces with Asiatic Rubber Pvt. Ltd. to expand production of its graphene-based natural rubber masterbatch across India and Asia. The announcement follows the successful commercial rollout of Perpetuus’s sustainable elastomer innovation.

The joint venture includes upgrading Asiatic’s existing manufacturing site to produce graphene natural rubber carbon black masterbatch, which is now being assessed by leading tyre manufacturers in India.

Furthering its commitment to the Indian market, Perpetuus is negotiating a second major investment with Kerala Rubber Ltd. to construct a purpose-built, 80,000 sq. ft. graphene masterbatch facility in Kottayam, Kerala. Set to open in 2027, the plant will support industrial-scale output for both tyre and general elastomer sectors.

This partnership contributes to India’s broader industrial strategy, promoting sustainable technology adoption and positioning Kerala as a regional hub for advanced graphene materials. It represents a vital step towards Perpetuus’s goal of redefining the global elastomer and tyre industries with cleaner, more efficient solutions.

The graphene masterbatch developed by Perpetuus enhances the mechanical strength and environmental performance of tyres while reducing toxic substances. As pre-mixed sheets, it offers seamless integration into manufacturing processes, cutting energy usage and improving safety standards.

“This strategic partnership demonstrates the commercial maturity of our technology.” said John Buckland, CEO of Perpetuus Advanced Materials. “We’ve moved from launch to regional production, and shortly to global scale-up with our Indian partners who share our vision for next generation, high performance, and sustainable materials.”

In parallel, Perpetuus is expanding its product development to include sustainable reinforcing materials such as recovered carbon black (rCB) and Tyre Derived Polymers (TDP), creating a new generation of graphene-enabled circular elastomers. The company is also developing graphene-enhanced synthetic rubber masterbatches to support global manufacturers seeking to reduce their environmental impact while elevating performance.
