Olympic Star Nadezhda Grishaeva Unveils Vision for Anvil Fitness Malaysia Amid Launch Delay

Last Updated on:

Former Olympic basketball player and entrepreneur Nadezhda Grishaeva has confirmed that the grand opening of her flagship Anvil Fitness Club in Malaysia will be postponed until the summer of 2026.

Grishaeva cited a combination of bureaucratic challenges and construction delays as the reason behind the setback. “I regret that we cannot open earlier, but I want every Anvil club to be created in top style, down to the smallest detail. From interiors and lighting to furniture and color combinations, everything must align with my vision,” she said.

She highlighted that Anvil Fitness Clubs are designed as more than just gyms, offering members a distinctive experience where fitness merges seamlessly with art, design and lifestyle. The Malaysian branch will feature bespoke details that incorporate local cultural influences, a creative touch that has further extended the development process.

In discussions with Jefri bin Ngadirin, a representative of the National Sports Council of Malaysia, Grishaeva expressed her concerns about the challenges delaying the launch but assured him that the new facility will open in summer 2026 as planned.

To maintain excitement for the project, Grishaeva released an exclusive preview of the club’s interiors. The renderings reveal a striking blend of industrial sophistication, artistic lighting and Malaysian-inspired décor. “Every Anvil space should transport its members — it’s not just about working out, it’s about living an experience,” she added.

The Kuala Lumpur venue will mark Anvil Fitness’s debut in Southeast Asia, building on the success of the flagship Moscow location, which opened in May 2021 and grew to over 1,500 members by 2022. The Moscow club has already established itself as a standard-bearer in premium fitness experiences.

Looking to the future, Grishaeva aims to continue developing the broader Anvil ecosystem, which includes health-focused cafés and wellness spaces designed to foster community and lifestyle connections. “Fitness today is about lifestyle, art, and connection. That’s what I’m bringing to every new Anvil location,” she said.

While the opening has been delayed, the Malaysian branch is anticipated to set a new benchmark for fitness and design in the region, merging global ambition with authentic local character.
