Boohai’s follow-up single inspired by 1952 Gibson vintage from Nashville to Machynlleth

Bron Yr Aur Beats, a new indie label founded in Machynlleth, is set to release Boohai’s latest single “We Build These Mountains” on October 31st, 2025. The song, which has already garnered attention for its unique sound and soulful lyrics, was sparked by an unexpected source: a 1952 Gibson guitar borrowed from friend and Grammy-winning artist, Chance McCoy.

The vintage guitar has deep roots in Nashville’s music scene, having been played on countless sessions and toured the world. It has now found a new home in McCoy’s studio in West Virginia, where he is producing a variety of acclaimed acts. But before returning to its roots, the guitar played a crucial role in inspiring Boohai’s latest release.

Boohai, known for their previous album “Entropy for Beginners” featuring over 50 musicians from around the world, takes a different approach with “We Build These Mountains”. The single is a stripped-back, lo-fi, and soulful track featuring Boohai’s vocals and guitar, with rhythmic textures from Bill Coyne, formerly of Welsh band Murry the Hump.

The collaboration between Boohai and Coyne dates back to the late 1990s when their bands, Boohai Soul and Murry the Hump, often crossed paths while playing the London circuit. This new collaboration marks the closing of a long creative circle for the two musicians.

In an interview about the inspiration behind “We Build These Mountains”, Boohai explains, “That Gibson had a sound unlike anything I’d played before, and it arrived at exactly the right moment. As soon as I picked it up, the song just poured out in one take – raw, lo-fi, and a total contrast to the multi-layered world of Entropy for Beginners. Writing it felt like returning to my roots as a singer-songwriter, and since then, the song has taken on an even deeper meaning with everything that’s happened in my life.”

“We Build These Mountains” will be the first release under Bron Yr Aur Beats, a label dedicated to supporting distinctive, independent voices and future collaborations. Fans can pre-order the single now on streaming and digital platforms, and stay updated on Boohai’s website and Instagram page (@i_am_boohai). The song will be distributed by Horus Music and is set to be a major hit in the music scene upon its release.
