“Get Ready to Run with Your Dog on the UK’s Inaugural National #RunWithYourDogDay – October 4th, 2025!”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dog lovers and runners across the UK are gearing up for the very first National #RunWithYourDogDay on October 4, 2025. Organized by Marianne Cheung of Trotting Dog Isle of Wight, this new annual event aims to celebrate fitness, fun, and the special bond between humans and their canine companions.

The goal of this initiative is to encourage people to join in on their dog’s natural love of running and movement, while promoting safe and positive ways to exercise together. The day is inclusive and welcomes both dedicated canicross runners and those who simply want to get more active with their pets.

According to Marianne, “There are huge physical and mental health benefits of running with dogs, and it’s also great fun.” As a Dogfit Canicross Trainer and founder of the dog-friendly trail tracker RouteSharer.com, she has personally experienced the positive effects of running with her own dogs for 15 years. This day is about celebrating the unique bond between humans and dogs and promoting the idea that running with your dog can be a fun and safe activity for everyone.

For those who are already avid runners or want to start a new, structured routine, the day highlights the importance of using proper canicross equipment. Canicross is hands-free trail running with your dog and requires a properly-fitted harness, a bungee line, and a running belt. These items ensure a comfortable and safe experience for both dog and human as they run as a team on trails.

For everyone else, the day is about embracing and joining in with their dog’s playful and energetic nature. Whether they love to run and chase balls or simply enjoy trotting along on their regular walk, the message is to have fun and get moving together.

To participate, all you have to do on October 4th is enjoy a canicross run, trot, or off-lead play session with your dog in your favorite dog-friendly spot and share the experience on social media using the hashtag #RunWithYourDogDay.
