Age Concern Hampshire is proud to announce its 40th anniversary of supporting older people in Hampshire. The independent charity, established in 1985, has been dedicated to providing a wide range of services to help older adults live well and independently for longer.
Throughout the years, Age Concern Hampshire has expanded its services to include Care and Wellbeing Centres, Help at Home services, Foot Care Clinics, Social Groups, Hospital to Home support, free Information Hubs, and various other essential activities. With a team of staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds, the charity offers friendship, guidance, and care to older individuals at every stage of the ageing process.
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Age Concern Hampshire has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support its vital Social Groups. These groups, which have become a lifeline for many older people, are currently at risk due to the end of previous funding streams. Rather than charging participation fees, which may be unaffordable for older individuals, Age Concern Hampshire is appealing to the public for financial assistance.

Loneliness and social isolation can have a significant impact on the mental health of older people, leading to depression and anxiety. The ACH Social Groups provide a vital opportunity for attendees to stay socially connected and access peer-to-peer emotional support, reducing stress and promoting overall happiness. These groups also offer gentle exercise and structured activities led by trained staff and volunteers in a welcoming and friendly environment.
All funds raised through the crowdfunding campaign will go towards coordinating and delivering these essential groups. Age Concern Hampshire remains committed to keeping these sessions free for all individuals, in line with their mission of inclusivity and sustained support.
The public is encouraged to join in the 40th-anniversary celebrations by supporting Age Concern Hampshire’s efforts to ensure that no older person in Hampshire is left without connection, purpose, or support. To donate, please visit: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/wellbeing-groups-for-older-people
