Norfolk, UK – Mobilityways, a specialist in reducing commuter emissions, was honored today with the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development by the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, Lady Dannatt, MBE.
At the ceremony, Lady Dannatt presented Mobilityways’ Managing Director, Julie Furnell, with a crystal King’s Award, while Carol Bundock, Deputy Lieutenant, read The Grant of Appointment. The Sheriff of Norwich, Sirajul Islam, was also in attendance to celebrate this significant achievement.
Out of 252 organizations nationwide, Mobilityways is one of only four in Norfolk to receive this recognition. The company’s commitment to zero-carbon commuting and its climate tech solutions have earned them this award. Mobilityways’ software provides employers with visibility of commuting challenges and solutions, and is the only solution dedicated to decarbonizing the commute.
This is the third time that Mobilityways has been awarded a prestigious accolade, having previously received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2019 and 2008. The company can now proudly display the Queen’s/King’s Award emblem for the next five years, as it has been granted the right to use it until 2029.
Prior to presenting the award, Lady Dannatt stated, “To be recognized with this award three times is quite exceptional. Here I am today presenting you with the King’s Award, and there really is no higher accolade. Norfolk is fantastically proud of you all. You are a young, vibrant, exploring firm of people, very dedicated, highly qualified, and we are very grateful for what you do for the planet.”
During the event, the dignitaries had the opportunity to meet with some of Mobilityways’ 40 staff at their Norwich office, including Chief Technical Officer Ross Hewitt, who has been with the company for 21 years. Mobilityways, founded as Liftshare in 1998, has expanded to offer a full portfolio of climate-tech solutions that measure, reduce, and report commuting emissions for large employers.
Julie Furnell, Managing Director of Mobilityways, expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, “It is a true honor to receive the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. This award is a testament to our unwavering commitment to revolutionizing commuting.”
Furnell continued, “At Mobilityways, we are not only creating innovative climate-tech solutions, but we are also influencing how people can travel more sustainably. As an SME, this recognition highlights our dedication to partnering with large employers to make a tangible impact on decarbonizing the commute.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed last year to honor His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II by recognizing outstanding UK businesses. Now in its 58th year, the Award program is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses allowed to use the esteemed King’s Award Emblem for the next five years.
