European Patient Congress Depression to be Hosted by European Alliance Against Depression

The European Alliance Against Depression (EAAD) will be hosting the European Patient Congress Depression on December 7, 2024. This free online event is aimed at supporting individuals affected by depression and their relatives. It will provide a platform for expert guidance, patient perspectives, and practical advice on managing mental health challenges.

According to Professor Ulrich Hegerl, president of EAAD and host of the event, the congress aims to support patients in becoming experts on their own condition. He also mentions that it intends to foster a supportive community and show individuals that they are not alone. This will be the first time attendees from all over Europe will have the opportunity to learn from professionals and from one another.

The event will feature a variety of agenda highlights, including patient and partner experience reports, keynotes on psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), as well as tried and tested self-help tips. There will also be a panel addressing how to effectively communicate about mental health.

The event is open to anyone affected by or supporting someone with depression and will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10:00 to 15:30 CET. Registration is free, and participation will be through Zoom. The event will be held in English.
