Primary care learning module for bladder cancer launched by Action Bladder Cancer UK

Bladder cancer is a significant health issue in the UK, with over 23,000 people being diagnosed each year. To address this problem, Action Bladder Cancer UK has launched a new online learning module for primary care healthcare professionals. The purpose of this module is to improve the knowledge of bladder cancer among healthcare professionals, ultimately leading to early detection and improved patient outcomes.

The free one-hour module, developed in partnership with NB Medical, is CPD-accredited and focuses on case studies to enhance GPs’ understanding of bladder cancer. It covers topics such as signs and symptoms, epidemiology, risk factors, clinical features, and management of bladder cancer. The module can be accessed through the ABC UK website.

Jeannie Rigby, CEO of ABC UK, stated, “We are delighted to expand our education programme to provide further learning opportunities for primary care professionals. Bladder cancer is often diagnosed late, and it remains the only common cancer with stagnant survival rates. We want to change this and improve outcomes for patients.” She also emphasized the importance of addressing the knowledge gap and providing opportunities for healthcare professionals to improve their understanding of the disease.

Apart from the online learning module, ABC UK’s Education Programme includes a yearly nurse education conference, regular webinars, networking opportunities, and a range of specialist resources available online and in print.
