Fortuna Female Society, a registered charity focused on creating safe spaces for women, has announced the expansion of its Woman:Kind Café service. The service, which provides confidential peer-support for women affected by domestic abuse, will now be available in Runcorn starting in February 2026.
The Woman:Kind Café offers a safe and supportive environment for women to seek help and connect with others who have similar experiences. Along with peer support, the café also provides information on local support services in Halton and can refer women to trauma-informed counselling sessions.
Currently, the café runs twice a month at Widnes Library. The expansion into Runcorn will build upon this existing service and provide increased access to support across the borough.
Beginning in February 2026, the Woman:Kind Café sessions will take place as follows:
– Runcorn: Halton Lea Library, every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month
– Widnes: Widnes Library, continuing every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
This expansion aims to meet the growing need for safe spaces where women can receive support and guidance. Laura Bevan, Chair of Fortuna Female Society, stated, “We are seeing a growing need for safe spaces where women can talk, be listened to, and be guided towards the right support when they need it. Expanding Woman:Kind Café into Runcorn allows us to meet that need more effectively across Halton.”
Fortuna Female Society’s mission is to create supportive spaces for women through various groups, activities, and support services. These include peer-support cafés, wellbeing sessions, creative activities, and opportunities for connection and confidence-building. The charity, which is registered under Charity Number 1213200, works across Halton to provide women with a sense of community and empowerment.
