New Report Reveals British Business Leaders Overlooking the Performance Benefits of Meditation
Manchester, UK, 7th January 2026: A new report released today by klarosity, a platform dedicated to meditation for high-performance environments, highlights a “perception gap” in British business culture. The report, titled “The Untapped Asset: 2026 Perceptions of Meditation & Performance,” shows that while elite athletes and Silicon Valley executives are increasingly utilizing meditation as a cognitive strategy to enhance performance, UK business leaders are largely overlooking its impact.
According to the report, 87% of UK professionals associate meditation primarily with “Relaxation” or “Sleep,” while only 11% recognize its potential to improve “Innovation.” Additionally, a mere 4% see meditation as a tool for building “Leadership Skills.” This skepticism contradicts decades of neuroscientific research, which shows that meditation is an active cognitive exercise that can lead to measurable performance gains.
“For high-performing individuals, meditation is no longer viewed as a ‘wellness perk,’” says Simon Jones, Founder & Managing Director of klarosity and externally accredited Meditation Teacher. “It is seen as a critical strategy to sharpen focus and build resilience. Our data shows that UK business culture has not caught up with this understanding, resulting in a clear ‘Innovation Deficit.’ By pigeonholing meditation as just ‘relaxation,’ British businesses are missing out on a massive competitive advantage.”
The report cites evidence that meditation can improve decision-making skills, increase resilience under pressure, and enhance cognitive focus. However, the majority of UK business leaders still view it solely as a tool for relaxation and stress relief.
The full report, “The Untapped Asset: 2026 Perceptions of Meditation & Performance,” outlines the specific barriers preventing professionals from adopting meditation and the performance benefits currently being missed. It is available for download at klarosity.com.
The research was conducted via Prolific on November 17, 2025, and consisted of 300 UK professionals, including decision-makers in leadership and management roles.
