“Empowering Youth through Adventure: Forces Support Donates £60,000 to The Ulysses Trust”

On Monday, November 17, 2025, The Ulysses Trust announced a generous donation of £60,000 from UK charity Forces Support. The donation will directly support cadet units across the UK in delivering challenging and life-changing expeditions for young people in the Army Cadets, Royal Navy Cadets, and Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

The donation was celebrated with the presentation of a commemorative plaque during The Ulysses Trust’s Odyssey Circle event at Google on November 4, 2025. The plaque acknowledges the partnership between The Ulysses Trust and Forces Support and was presented by Forces Support CEO Gary Candlish and Lady Janie Grosvenor, Vice Patron of The Ulysses Trust.

Polly Marsh, CEO of The Ulysses Trust, expressed immense gratitude for the generous donation, stating that it will open doors for hundreds of cadets to participate in challenging expeditions that will help them build resilience, teamwork, and confidence. She also emphasized the shared belief between the two organizations in the power of adventure and challenge to transform young lives.

Forces Support’s work in providing practical assistance to bereaved military families aligns with The Ulysses Trust’s mission to promote service, courage, and personal development among young people. CEO Gary Candlish shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it allows them to extend their support to the next generation and help young people connected to the Forces community become confident and capable leaders.

Since its establishment in 1992, The Ulysses Trust has supported over 44,000 individuals through more than 3,100 expeditions, ranging from grassroots Duke of Edinburgh journeys in the UK to extraordinary global challenges such as crossing Antarctica and climbing the world’s highest peaks. The donation from Forces Support will enable even more young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to benefit from the life-changing impact of adventure.
