Announcement: £50 Million Investment Portfolio Seeking Proposals to Support Future Generations

Six UK charitable foundations have issued a public invitation today (9 October 2025) to investment service providers to propose a bold portfolio for an investment of up to £50 million. The goal is to prioritize positive social and environmental impact for future generations.

This call for proposals is part of the Endowments Investing Challenge, spearheaded by The Blagrave Trust, The Children’s Society, Cripplegate Foundation, Friends Provident Foundation, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and Vivensa Foundation. They are seeking innovative and forward-thinking proposals that address the needs of future generations.

“We are seeking something different for our investment,” said Danielle Walker Palmour, Director of Friends Provident Foundation. “It is not enough to only consider financial returns. As endowed charities, we recognize that our endowments are both a privilege and a responsibility. It is our duty to use them powerfully to ensure that future generations do not suffer the negative consequences of our actions.”

A Future Generations Panel has been involved in shaping the process, providing the perspective of young adults. They will continue to advise throughout the process and will have a say in the final decision when shortlisted investment service providers (ISPs) present their proposals to a live audience of values-led investors and young people in March 2026.

Lok-Yi, a member of the panel, expressed their passion for the project, stating, “As young people, we care deeply about our future and that of future generations. However, in recent years, we have faced wars, extreme weather, and rising living costs. Through this investment, we can make a true difference for our future.”

Eli Manderson Evans, CEO of The Blagrave Trust, emphasized the importance of including the perspectives of young people in the investment process, saying, “Young people have the most at stake in the decisions we make today, yet are too often excluded from conversations about how capital is invested. By bringing their perspectives into the heart of this process, we are not just investing for future generations – we are investing with them, ensuring that their values and priorities help shape a fairer, more sustainable economy.”

Investment service providers of all sizes and backgrounds are encouraged to submit proposals, from boutique impact firms to large asset managers committed to a fair and sustainable economy. Interested ISPs can download the Request for Investment Proposals at endowmentsinvestingchallenge.com/request-for-proposals. The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm (UK time) on Friday 19 December 2025.
