Heal Rewilding is ecstatic to announce that they have received a significant financial boost from Benefact Group through its annual Movement for Good Awards. The donation is part of Benefact Group’s Partnership Funding program, which focuses on supporting charities that work towards the advancement of education and skills, heritage, arts and culture, and climate change and environment.
Out of 18 charities across the UK and Ireland, Heal Rewilding is one of the lucky recipients to receive a share of the £400,000 funding. The Partnership Funding aims to provide flexible financial support to charities that can be utilized within three years for a combination of capital and running costs to support their projects.
The selection process for the funding involved an initial “Expression of Interest” stage, where charities were asked to provide a brief overview of their work. From there, 50 charities were invited to complete a full application form, and the winning projects were selected based on four key criteria: impact and effectiveness, sustainability, innovation, and care and compassion.
With this generous support, Heal Rewilding plans to strengthen their work at their first rewilding site in Somerset by supporting their Rewilding Ranger. This role is essential in fulfilling Heal’s mission of returning land to nature, forever, by restoring wildlife, addressing the climate crisis, and reconnecting people with the natural world. The funding will also enable Heal to demonstrate rewilding in action, inspire others, and scale up positive ecological change, ultimately benefiting climate, nature, and communities.
Jan Stannard, Co-Founder and CEO of Heal Rewilding, expressed her gratitude for the support, stating, “Our mission at Heal is to return land to nature, forever. This grant will directly support our Rewilding Ranger, a crucial role in transforming depleted land into thriving habitats. By implementing evidence-based rewilding methods such as natural regeneration and species reintroduction, we can revive ecosystems and deliver broader benefits such as carbon capture, flood resilience, and community well-being. With this support, Heal can accelerate nature recovery in England and inspire more landowners and communities to join the movement for a wilder, more resilient future.”
Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive of Benefact Group, also shared his thoughts on the Partnership Funding, saying, “Giving back is at the heart of everything we do at Benefact Group. Our mission is simple: the more we grow, the more we can give. We understand the importance of longer-term funding for charities, especially in bringing ambitious new ideas to life and getting larger transformative projects off the ground. We are delighted to announce another round of transformational grants through our Partnership Funding. Through these partnership grants, we are actively championing innovation and providing charities with the support they need to turn their creative ideas into practical solutions that benefit society. I am excited to see how these projects develop.”
Aside from the financial support, Benefact Group is also committed to building lasting partnerships with the winning charities by providing them with access to resources, including webinars, volunteering opportunities, and support in delivering their projects.
