“Introducing PLAN-B NET ZERO’s Innovative Resilience Concept: Harnessing BESS, Hydrogen, and AI at the D-A-CH Hydrogen Symposium”

Wiener Neustadt / Zug – PLAN-B NET ZERO AG, a Swiss GreenTech company, and its subsidiary PLAN-B NET ZERO BESS GmbH presented their innovative concept for enhancing energy resilience in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) at the D-A-CH Hydrogen Symposium in Wiener Neustadt.

The model integrates Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), green hydrogen, and artificial intelligence (AI) to create a flexible and intelligent energy ecosystem. This system is designed to stabilize power grids and strengthen supply security in the face of increasing volatility from renewable energy sources, slow grid expansion, and extreme weather conditions.

According to Tjark Connor Hennings-Huep, a battery systems expert at PLAN-B NET ZERO, traditional grid planning is no longer sufficient under these conditions. “We need intelligent, decentralized systems that can respond autonomously to fluctuations,” he stated during his presentation at the symposium.

The concept presented by PLAN-B NET ZERO combines battery storage for short-term balancing with hydrogen technologies for long-term storage. The integration of these technologies creates technical synergies that improve overall efficiency, profitability, and system resilience. AI-based forecasting and control algorithms further enhance the system by dynamically balancing generation, storage, and consumption in real-time.

Rather than viewing BESS and hydrogen as competitors, PLAN-B NET ZERO sees them as complementary building blocks of a resilient energy system. BESS can respond within milliseconds to grid fluctuations, while green hydrogen enables long-term storage of large volumes that can be reconverted via fuel cells or hydrogen turbines.

In pursuit of this concept, PLAN-B NET ZERO is developing regional energy hubs that connect photovoltaic generation, battery storage, and electrolyzers. Surplus renewable energy is converted into hydrogen locally, stored, and reused as needed. The company is also currently developing a pipeline of approximately 1.3 GWh of stand-alone BESS projects, with the potential for coupling to hydrogen systems.

AI-driven energy management systems ensure seamless coordination between all components, increasing energy yield, lowering costs, and enhancing system efficiency. The ultimate goal of PLAN-B NET ZERO is to create a resilient and climate-neutral energy supply for the DACH region.

“Our aim is an energy system that stabilizes itself, is digital, decentralized, and decarbonized,” summarized Hennings-Huep in Wiener Neustadt.

PLAN-B NET ZERO AG is a GreenTech startup based in Zug, Switzerland. The company was founded in April 2023 by Bradley Mundt and represents the first entry into a new industrial category: NEO ENERGY. PLAN-B transforms sustainable energy into a lifestyle product, utilizing AI and gamification to create a lifestyle brand that reimagines energy.
