REUSE Foundation, a UK-registered charity, has announced the launch of its new campaign, Bottles for Good, on Tuesday 30 September, 2025. The campaign aims to benefit the environment and empower women in India by tackling the issue of plastic waste.
Plastic pollution has become a growing concern, with Greenpeace and Everyday Plastic reporting that UK households discard 1.7 billion pieces of plastic packaging each week, amounting to nearly 90 billion annually. This plastic is often single-use and unrecyclable, resulting in it being incinerated, sent to landfills, or exported abroad where it can end up polluting the environment.
Bottles for Good offers a practical solution to this issue by promoting the use of refillable bottles. The campaign will work with both online and offline refill stores across the UK to encourage individuals to refill at home, reducing the amount of plastic waste produced. Proceeds from the campaign will go towards supporting women-led sustainability initiatives in rural India.
Participating stores will receive free bottle bundles, including high-quality refillable bottles, stainless-steel pumps, and caps, as well as marketing materials. 50% of each sale will go towards REUSE Foundation’s work in rural India, with the remaining 50% being kept by the store.
Funds raised will be used to train women in rural India, who were previously employed as waste pickers, to drive and deliver household refills, replacing single-use sachets and bottles. This will help to reduce plastic waste at the source, improve health outcomes, and support the circular reuse movement in India.
Roger Sharp, trustee of REUSE Foundation, stated, “Bottles for Good gives UK refill stores a simple way to seed reuse habits and help customers start their journey with refills. Local refill shops are the perfect partners to make reuse mainstream.”
