FEV and Nature Architects (NA) have announced a strategic collaboration to develop cutting-edge vehicle structures through innovative design methods utilizing artificial intelligence. The collaboration brings together FEV’s extensive experience in vehicle development and NA’s unique design platform, which is based on AI-supported form finding, metamaterials, and origami engineering.
The partnership aims to create novel vehicle structures that will set new standards in lightweight construction, functionality, and development dynamics. Both companies are leveraging their strengths to achieve this goal, with FEV providing platform data and benchmark models and NA contributing its proprietary design platform.
The first joint project between the two companies focused on optimizing a side impact structure, resulting in a weight reduction of up to 51 percent in the sill reinforcement while maintaining the same level of passenger safety. The successful results of this project, which also shortened development times and opened cost-saving potential, were validated in the overall vehicle model.
