Hamburg, Germany – 4th September 2025. The nomination period for the highly prestigious Broermann Medical Innovation Award 2026 has officially opened. With a prize of one million euros, this international award is one of the most highly endowed awards for medical research in the world. Nominations are open to scientists from all over the world who have made significant contributions in the fields of medicine, biotechnology, or related areas. The nomination portal will remain open until March 1st, 2026.
The Broermann Medical Innovation Award recognizes groundbreaking scientific discoveries with high potential for clinical application. The recipient of the award will be announced in the fall of 2026, with the official award ceremony to follow.
This year marks the debut of the Broermann Medical Innovation Award. The recipient of the inaugural award will be announced on September 18th, 2025 by a jury of experts. The official award ceremony, hosted by Boris Rhein, the Minister-President of Hesse, will take place on November 14th, 2025 at the Hessian State Chancellery in Wiesbaden.
Established in 2024, the Broermann Medical Innovation Award honors the vision and dedication of Dr. Bernard große Broermann, founder of the Asklepios Kliniken Group. The award is endowed by Broermann gemeinnützige GmbH and organized through the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg (UKGM). It aims to recognize groundbreaking medical discoveries and highlight the researchers who are making real progress in the prevention and treatment of diseases. The award founder firmly believes that while scientific excellence in medicine is a collaborative effort, individual researchers play a crucial role in driving innovation forward. The Broermann Medical Innovation Award aims to recognize and support these key figures and their contributions to medical advancement worldwide.
