LLWS Storyline Spotlight – Mo’ne Davis Returns to the Spotlight
A familiar name from LLWS history is back in the baseball headlines. Mo’ne Davis, who made history in 2014 as the first girl to pitch a shutout victory in the Little League World Series, will be among more than 600 athletes trying out for the upcoming Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL).
The tryouts will take place August 22–25 in Washington, D.C., and the league aims to launch in summer 2026 with six teams — marking the first U.S. women’s pro baseball league since 1954. Davis will try out as both a pitcher and position player (second base, shortstop, center field).
