CAMBRIDGE AGENCY LAUNCHES INITIATIVE TO PROMOTE ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMA

London, UK, Monday 21 July, 2025 – Every year, adults across the UK embark on transformative journeys, returning to education, building confidence, and pursuing new careers. The Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is often the route that makes this possible – a nationally recognized one-year qualification designed to help adults progress to university, regardless of their background.

However, despite its potential to open doors to higher education, thousands of potential learners and even some educators are still unaware of this option.

In response, the Cambridge Access Validating Agency (CAVA) has launched “Pass the Mark”, a new initiative aimed at spreading awareness and creating new opportunities. At the heart of the campaign is a simple object with a powerful purpose: a bookmark.

Each bookmark features a QR code that links to clear and accessible information about the Access to HE Diploma, how it works, and how to get started. The campaign encourages people to pass it on to colleagues, students, friends, family members, or anyone who could benefit from this pathway.

One former Medicine student shared, “Access to HE made me feel like I was not only capable, but that I was good. It built my confidence and belief in myself.”

The campaign highlights the impact of a single conversation in opening doors to education. CAVA’s CEO Emily Ross stated, “At CAVA, we believe every adult deserves the opportunity to transform their future through education. Pass the Mark is part of our commitment to championing lifelong learning and serves as a reminder that one small conversation can spark a life-changing journey.”

The campaign is already being implemented across the country, with digital and physical bookmarks being distributed in member colleges, staff rooms, libraries, and communities. A downloadable toolkit and more information about the campaign can be found on their website.

Because every educational journey starts with a mark, and every adult deserves the chance to make theirs.
