Manchester-based video production specialists Eight Engines have earned a place on Business Insider’s prestigious list of the North West’s Most Exciting Companies – a major milestone for the growing creative agency.
Initially launched as a television drama outfit producing content for the BBC, Eight Engines pivoted in 2017 to become a fully-fledged video production agency serving a diverse range of clients.
In the years since, the team has become renowned for crafting visually striking, story-led video campaigns for a broad spectrum of partners – including multinational corporations, public institutions, and local organisations.
“This recognition is a huge honour and a real boost for our entire team,” said Jack Leigh. “We’ve grown organically from a passion for storytelling into a company that’s trusted by some of the biggest brands in the world to bring their vision to life. We’ve always believed that great storytelling is about having the right idea and team to tell it – and our strength lies in making every budget, big or small, work harder to deliver exceptional results.”
The agency’s recent portfolio includes collaborations with major players such as Google, Sony, IHG, Help for Heroes, and Saint Gobain – as well as prominent regional bodies like Transport for Greater Manchester and creative campaigns for numerous local agencies.
Their distinctive ability to turn even complex subjects into compelling visual narratives has helped the agency carve out a unique niche in the competitive world of video production – gaining recognition not just locally but internationally.
“What excites me most,” Leigh added, “is taking a tricky, niche topic and turning it into something your audience can’t scroll past. Even if the initial brief is something that could on the surface be a bit dry, we love breathing colour, clarity and adding a touch of mischief into our content. When marketing feels like binge-watching, everybody wins: your message sticks and viewers come back for more.”
With production credits on hit shows like Peaky Blinders and blockbuster franchises like Fast and Furious, Leigh brings a wealth of experience to the company’s output – elevating the team’s storytelling abilities and production values.
Still, he insists that their success has been a collective effort.
“Honestly, I get to work with the best group of people I could ask for,” Leigh said. “We’re a close-knit team, and every project is a shared creative journey. That passion and drive is reflective in every single member of our team – and that is what has driven us to this point in our business.”
From navigating the challenges of the pandemic to adapting to the economic climate and technological shifts like AI, Eight Engines has emerged stronger, more agile, and more ambitious.
With continued growth on the horizon, the company remains committed to raising the bar for creative storytelling – in Manchester, the North West, and beyond.
