“SCIP’s Garden Show Transforms Seaford’s Historic Crypt Gallery into a Botanical Wonderland”

The Crypt Gallery in Seaford, known for its bold and insightful exhibitions, will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of nature and art this summer as the Arts Charity SCIP presents “The Garden Show.” From June 25th to July 13th, visitors can immerse themselves in a three-week exploration of all things floral, with the exhibition open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

Featuring a diverse collection of artworks from renowned artists such as Hello Marine, Frances Doherty, Kit Boyd, Lisa Stubbs, and Graham Carter, “The Garden Show” promises to offer a unique and captivating perspective on the floral world. Guests can expect to be enchanted by the whimsical fine art, delicate ceramics, intricate prints, and captivating illustrations on display.

In addition to the exhibition, SCIP will also be offering a range of free, hands-on art workshops for all ages. These engaging sessions, including special workshops for children and young people, will allow visitors to explore the world of cyanotype printing and create vibrant Mexican-inspired floral headwear.

The SCIP Studio will also be transformed into an extraordinary paper rainforest, crafted by the charity’s youth group and paper artist Lauren Hayes. This immersive installation, co-designed and populated by the young participants with tropical flora and fauna, promises to be a breathtaking spectacle. As Angela Raven, Trustee of SCIP, enthusiastically states, “We are working with paper artist Lauren Hayes to create this amazing installation, and the young people working on this project will lead the design of creatures and plant life – it’s going to be spectacular.”

Adding a unique touch, community volunteers have spent the past three months crafting fascinating fungi sculptures, which will be artfully installed in the stunning medieval undercroft of The Crypt Gallery. This creative juxtaposition of organic forms within the ancient architecture, a scheduled monument and one of the UK’s oldest of its kind, offers a truly unique experience.

In addition to the exhibitions and workshops, visitors can also enjoy a selection of films, including SCIP co-founder Alice Carter’s film exploring the local community’s relationship with gardens, and artist Abigail Brown’s incredible film “Living Sculpture.”

With live demonstrations and a dedicated creative kids’ corner, “The Garden Show” offers a delightful blend of art, hands-on activities, and cultural heritage. It is the perfect destination for all ages to learn, create, and appreciate the vital ecosystems that surround us, all within the atmospheric setting of The Crypt Gallery.
