Continue Arcades is set to open its second branch in Taunton, Somerset, bringing its distinctive free play gaming concept to East Street. Following strong community support in Plymouth, the new arcade offers a mix of retro charm and cutting-edge gaming for players of all ages.
The new site boasts a wide selection of arcade cabinets, featuring fan-favourites such as Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Street Fighter IV, alongside newer digital games and an array of pinball machines. Admission is charged as a one-time fee – £13 for adults (16+), £10 for children between 4 and 15, and free for under-4s – which allows for unlimited gaming throughout the visit.
By eliminating the need for coins, the arcade aims to create a relaxed, immersive environment where guests can enjoy uninterrupted gameplay.
Austin Wood, the founder of Continue Arcades, launched the venture with the intention of creating accessible and sociable entertainment spaces. Influenced by arcade culture in the United States, he focused on breathing new life into empty commercial units while prioritising affordability and fun.
“Continue Arcades is about bringing people together through gaming,” Wood stated. “We wanted to create a space where everyone, regardless of age or gaming experience, can enjoy themselves without the constant need for coins.”
In addition to its expansive game selection, the Taunton venue serves a variety of refreshments, including soft drinks, IPAs, ciders, beers, and pre-mixed cocktails. For a small extra charge, guests can also enjoy unlimited warm popcorn. Designed with a family-friendly ethos, the space caters to gamers young and old, from solo players to groups.
The arcade officially opens on 4 April, with opening hours set as 11:30 am to 9:00 pm from Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 am to 11:00 pm on Fridays, and 10:00 am to 11:00 pm on Saturdays.
With its Taunton launch, Continue Arcades continues its mission to provide a welcoming hub where gaming nostalgia meets modern fun – all under one roof.
