28 years later, The Harborne Family Street Carnival is back!

The Harborne Family Street Carnival, often referred to as the second largest street carnival in the UK, is set to make its return on Sunday 22nd June for its 28th anniversary. This highly anticipated event, second only to London’s Notting Hill Carnival, promises to provide a full day of entertainment for both residents and visitors. The carnival is proudly sponsored by The Priory Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, with the aim of raising funds for local charity Cuppa Squad.

The main stage will be filled with a variety of entertainment acts throughout the day, including performances from schools, local groups, and handpicked headline acts. The carnival will commence at 10am and run until 5:30pm, featuring fairground rides, charity stalls, and representation from various local community groups. Organizers have made it their goal to make this year’s carnival the biggest yet, providing an opportunity for the community and city to come together and celebrate.

In addition to the exciting entertainment, the carnival has also chosen Cuppa Squad as their charity partner for 2025. Cuppa Squad is a local charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the people of Birmingham. Their involvement in this year’s carnival marks the beginning of a three-year partnership.

Executive Director of The Priory Hospital, Silvie Adams, expressed their enthusiasm for the event, stating “We are passionate about the community we serve and know how important community events like this are to improving the health and wellbeing of those attending. It’s an honor for us to be the headline sponsor for 2025 and we look forward to joining partners on Sunday 22nd June for what promises to be an incredible event.”

John Lloyd, representative of Cuppa Squad, also expressed their excitement for the partnership, stating “We’re delighted to be in partnership with the Harborne Family Street Carnival. Local community support is incredibly important, especially when considering the many families and loved ones we want to help in the area. We’d like to thank The Priory Hospital for their kind sponsorship of the carnival, we are proud to be working with both the hospital and the carnival who have been part of the community for many decades.”

Paul Burgess MBE, Harborne Carnival Chair, also shared his excitement for the event, stating “It is always a great pleasure to be able to say the Harborne Carnival is on again. Each year it gets more difficult to organize and the costs go up on everything. However, with the great support of this year’s sponsors, Priory Hospital, we can showcase what is great about living and working in Harborne and the surrounding areas.”
