The 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend has arrived in San Francisco, marking the first time the Bay Area has hosted the event since 2000. From February 14–16, the Chase Center and Oakland Arena will transform into basketball’s grandest stage, featuring a revamped tournament-style All-Star Game, celebrity matchups, and high-flying skills competitions. This year’s festivities honor the Golden State Warriors’ legacy while introducing a groundbreaking format designed to reignite competitive fire in the NBA’s marquee exhibition

In response to years of criticism over lackluster defense and effort, the NBA has scrapped the traditional East vs. West format for a single-elimination tournament featuring four teams:
Team Shaq (Veterans): Led by Shaquille O’Neal.
Team Chuck (Global Stars): Coached by Charles Barkley.
Team Kenny (Young Stars): Managed by Kenny Smith.
Team Candace: Composed of Rising Stars Challenge winners, guided by WNBA legend Candace Parker .
Game Rules:
Each game is untimed and ends when a team reaches 40 points.
Prize Pool: 1.8milliontotal,with1.8milliontotal,with125,000 per player for the champions, 50,000forrunners−up,and50,000forrunners−up,and25,000 for semifinalists .
The 24 All-Stars were drafted live on TNT’s Inside the NBA, with injury replacements adding late drama:

Stephen Curry (Warriors) – Local hero playing in his home arena.
Kevin Durant (Suns), Jayson Tatum (Celtics), Damian Lillard (Bucks).
