Kyle Coetzer, Ex-Scotland Captain, Becomes Assistant Tournament Director for Cricket Development & Operations at Canada Super60

Toronto, Canada – The Canada Super60 League has announced the appointment of Kyle Coetzer as its Assistant Tournament Director – Cricket Development & Operations. Coetzer, a former Scotland captain and winner of the prestigious ICC Associate Cricketer of the decade, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the league.

In his role, Coetzer will be responsible for shaping the vision of Canada Super60 and developing both men’s and women’s cricket from the ground up. With a strong track record of leading Scotland to historic victories and advocating for the growth of Associate Nations in cricket, Coetzer is well-equipped to guide the league towards success.

Currently serving as a women’s cricket coach for Durham County Cricket Club and the Welsh Fire in The Hundred, as well as consulting for the England Women’s A team, Coetzer’s expertise aligns perfectly with Canada Super60’s mission. The league aims to provide a professional platform for young cricketers, both male and female, and engage new fans with an exciting, fast-paced version of the sport.

On his appointment, Coetzer said, “I have always enjoyed my time in Canada, and I strongly believe that cricket has a massive future in this country. The ten-over format is the perfect way to introduce new audiences, especially kids, to the game in an exciting and fast-paced manner. More importantly, I see this league as a real boost for cricketers from Associate nations—both men and women—who need more opportunities to showcase their talent and experience high-quality competition.”

Abhishek Shah, Founder & MD of Canada Super60, expressed his confidence in Coetzer’s leadership, stating, “Kyle Coetzer has served the game in multiple capacities— as a player, captain, coach, and ambassador for Associate cricket. His deep understanding of high-performance development and his dedication to growing the sport make him the ideal person to lead our cricket development initiatives.”

The Canada Super60 League, a flagship venture of Cricket Canada, will launch its inaugural season in July 2025. As the first professional league in North America to feature both men’s and women’s competition from its inception, the tournament will bring together top international and domestic talent in an electrifying ten-over format. With a strong commitment to world-class facilities and player experience, Canada Super60 aims to become a premier destination for cricketing talent from across the globe.
