EMD Network Demonstrates Benefits of Cooperation with Renowned Retail Distributors in Europe
Pfäffikon/Switzerland, 17/01/2025 – The European Marketing Distribution (EMD) network has once again showcased the advantages of collaboration between established distributors in the retail sector. The latest example is a new partnership with Francap, a renowned buying group in France that serves 10 local retailers and over 2,200 points of sale. This collaboration also includes EMD’s Belgian partner Colruyt, which has a strong presence in France with 102 supermarkets.
This partnership will bring even more attractive private label products to French consumers, while also providing valuable access for French suppliers to the global sales markets of the EMD retail alliance.
To better understand the dynamics of this collaboration, it is important to look at the interconnected structures. Francap, a successful purchasing organization in France for over 60 years, has 10 member-retailers and represents 2,215 outlets in the country. These retailers have a strong connection with local customers and offer a wide range of products.
Francap is well-known in France for its reliable services to supermarket chains such as Coccinelle Supermarché, Diagonal, G20, and Colruyt. It also supplies local specialists like Rapid’ Market, Sitis, Epi Service, Votre marché, Panier Sympa, Viveco, and Marché Minut’. With the addition of Colruyt France’s revenues, the Francap Group has a total consumer turnover of 3.5 billion euros.
The main focus of this collaboration is the joint procurement and marketing of high-performance own brands. These private label products have gained popularity in the discerning French food market. Francap already has a range of established own brands, such as Belle France, Les Délices de Belle France, and Ecoprix, while EMD brings its portfolio of sought-after private labels under the EMD Eurolabel to this partnership.
It is important to note that this collaboration only applies to private label products, and there will be no cooperation on the international marketing or procurement of A-brand products.
This partnership has led to numerous new initiatives in the goods sector, providing mutual benefits for all stakeholders. The combined expertise of Francap is now part of EMD’s international product group tenders, while EMD has opened up a new route into the French food market for international own-brand manufacturers. This also presents new opportunities for French manufacturers in EMD’s intercontinental distribution area.
EMD, which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary with all its members and partners from the industry and trade, will continue to be a reliable and cooperative partner in the international procurement and marketing market in 2025.
