Empowered Momentum Founder Lisa Skeffington Leads Therapy Revolution

Last Updated on:

Lisa Skeffington, MNCP, SQHP, Founder of Empowered Momentum and known as the “Self-Esteem Expert and Inner Child Whisperer,” is driving a new wave of transformation in therapy and coaching.

Recently named Women’s Psychotherapist of the Year 2024/25 in the South of England, Lisa specialises in supporting high-achieving women to break free from the emotional barriers they hide behind, empowering them to embrace their true selves. Her work has garnered national recognition, with Empowered Momentum winning industry awards and Lisa being a finalist for Author of the Year 2024.

With an impressive 27 years in the health and wellbeing sector, Lisa uses psycho-dynamic mentoring that integrates a range of therapeutic methods, including psychotherapy, advanced hypnotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). To date, she has supported over 50 women in transforming their lives through her unique approach.

From her Dorset-based practice, Lisa shared the driving force behind her work: “I’m here to take women safely under my wing with the actual proper help they’ve been seeking but not finding until now. For too long, high-powered women have felt the need to hide their true selves behind a façade of perfection and achievement.

“They’re celebrated for their success but often suffer in silence, feeling disconnected, anxious, unheard and emotionally downtrodden. I’ve been there – I understand what it feels like to look like you have it all together on the outside whilst battling internal struggles no one sees. That’s why I’m passionate about helping these women step into the truth of who they are. When they embrace vulnerability and shed the mask, they unlock a power and freedom within themselves they doubted was possible. My mission is to guide them to a place where they can lead authentically, inspire others, and live freely.”

Lisa’s groundbreaking approach has helped many clients, including industry leaders, to heal from trauma and rediscover their confidence. Alongside her therapy work, Lisa has authored three books, including a journaling handbook for teens designed to build self-esteem and prevent future crises.

Her path to becoming a leading psychotherapist has been deeply personal. After a career in the diplomatic service, investment banking at Goldman Sachs, and running her own interior design company, Lisa found her true purpose in helping others achieve emotional wellbeing. Over the years, she has invested more than £80,000 in developing Empowered Momentum, which she is now growing into an Academy for women worldwide.
