Fox Corporation’s Tubi streaming service now available for free in UK

Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Corporation is set to launch a new free streaming service in the UK, joining the ranks of popular platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. The service, called Tubi, will be funded by advertising and offer personalized streaming options.

Tubi has already gained traction in North America, boasting 80 million active users, and is now expanding to the UK. According to Fox, the service will offer a vast library of content, including over 20,000 films and TV episodes. This library is described as “one of the largest and most diverse” in the UK.

While specific titles have not been announced, Fox promises a range of content, from blockbuster hits to original stories and hidden gems. The company is also committed to listening to the preferences of UK viewers and providing them with more of what they love.

The UK launch of Tubi will feature programming from major distributors such as Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. In addition, Tubi will showcase its own original content, including the series Big Mood starring Nicola Coughlan. The platform will also offer a variety of films, including “modern British classics”, as well as content from Bollywood, Nollywood, and arthouse cinema.

Tubi aims to provide a personalized streaming experience through the use of “machine learning”. Viewers can expect to access the platform on major smart TV platforms, iPhones, Android devices, and web browsers in the coming weeks. A marketing campaign is set to launch on July 15th.

This marks the first time that Fox has launched an ad-supported digital TV service in the UK. In the US, Tubi has already made a significant impact, tying with Disney+ in viewership figures on American data firm Nielsen’s viewing trends report. With its expansion to the UK, Tubi is poised to become a major player in the streaming industry, offering viewers a diverse and personalized streaming experience at no cost.
