Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Launches Human Rights Hub in Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland – On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom officially opened its Human Rights Hub in Geneva. The newly established hub will serve as a central location for promoting freedom and human rights worldwide. Dr. Michaela Lissowsky has been appointed as the hub’s director.

The foundation recognizes the crucial role that journalists, lawyers, and activists play in defending universal human rights. Often, these individuals put their own freedom and safety at risk in the pursuit of justice. The foundation believes that freedom is not free and must be actively defended by liberal societies and individuals.

Anne Brasseur, former President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and member of the board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, stated, “Geneva is the world capital of human rights and the rule of law. This is where people come together, network, become visible and have their voices heard. Standing up for the universal application of human rights every day is at the heart of our mission as the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. I am pleased that the Human Rights Hub in Geneva will serve as a place of encounter and collaboration.”

The Human Rights Hub has garnered support from the German Federal Minister of Justice, Dr. Marco Buschmann, who will inaugurate the hub. In his statement, he emphasized the importance of individuals with courage who stand up and fight for human rights. He also highlighted the crucial role that the hub will play in providing support, building partnerships, and generating awareness for human rights causes.
